FROM opera to children’s workshops, exhibitions to folk, there will be something to entertain everyone at Salisbury Arts Centre this summer.

Cuban rhythms will be brought to the venue by band Sierra Maestra, who proved a hit at last year’s International Arts Festival, Show of Hands will provide folk roots, blues, rock and country, while the Altar Club brings ska, reggae and indie.

Comedy fans will be well catered for with previews from the Edinburgh Fringe and stand-ups such as Kevin Precious.

And the Arts Festival will see an eclectic mix of shows, while there will be exhibitions from local artists and those from further afield.

This year will also see an international-themed Live Lunch series, with free gigs featuring artists from around the world and guests such as Pete Lawrence, founder of the Big Chill Festival and Patrick Duff, former lead singer of alternative rock band Strangelove.

Glyndebourne Opera will be brought to the screen at the centre for the first time, while workshops will be offered in writing, art, dance and more.

The free Family Fiesta and Hijack all-day youth festival will entertain children and young people, with productions such as Puppet Lab’s Each Peach Pear Plum entertaining the smallest of theatre-goers.

And a packed film schedule will include screenings of short films made or commissioned by the centre as well as acclaimed international works including Cannes award-winner Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Booking for the season opens on Monday, March 4.
