Huge buzz at news of Dodgy's date
NINETIES group Dodgy have announced they will be playing at The Rainbow on the Lake pub in Steeple Langford in the run up to their new national tour.
The group, pictured, who are best known for their hits Staying Out for The Summer, Good Enough, If You’re Thinking of Me and In a Room, are playing a semi-acoustic set at the venue on Friday, April 5.
Band members Nigel Clark, Mathew Priest and Andy Miller have reformed and released the critically acclaimed album Stand Upright in a Cool Place in 2012.
Their Back to Back tour later this year will include their greatest hits, new material and some cover tracks, and their date at the pub is already creating a stir.
Priest lives in Dinton and was introduced by the landlady of the Rainbow on the Lake, Louise Penny, by a regular at the pub.
“I just asked him if he would play here and he agreed,” she said.
“Everyone is very excited. They were huge in the nineties. I was a big fan and everyone knows their songs.
“We have several live music events throughout the year with lots of local acts performing but this is something new and very exciting – they have played at Glastonbury and Hyde Park and all over the place.”
About 300 fans are expected to crowd into the venue to enjoy the twohour set.
The band’s comeback tour has been featured on BBC Radio 2 and is attracting widespread interest.
“Lots of bands from that time have reformed or are still recording new material,” added Ms Penny.
“There is a huge buzz about them playing here.”
