TWO breakthrough music acts have been chosen to perform at this summer’s Larmer Tree Festival.

The winning acts were chosen from six finalists at Sixty Million Postcards in Bournemouth on Saturday night.

Ninebarrow, a Dorset-based duo inspired to make music after attending last year’s festival, were chosen as the winners of the singer/songwriter category and Goan Dogs, from Bristol, were crowned winners in the band category.

The six finalists from across the musical spectrum – Willowen, Jess Vincent, Ninebarrow, Kieran and the Iguanas, Will McNicol and Goan Dogs – were whittled down from hundreds of hopefuls before being chosen through a 48-hour public vote which attracted more than 3,500 voters.

Each of the finalists had 15 minutes to make their mark in front of the packed out venue on Saturday.

The judging panel included festival founder and music programmer James Shepard and Grammynominated record producer Simon Emmerson.

The winners will perform at this year’s festival in a line-up including Van Morrison, Seasick Steve and Saturday night head-liner Imelda May.
