Singers sought for Rock Choir
12:04pm Thursday 26th September 2013 in Entertainments
BUDDING singers are being sought to join Salisbury’s Rock Choir.
The choir welcomes any new members – whether they think they can sing or not – to its weekly sessions in the city.
“Rock Choir is very different to more traditional choirs and choral societies,” says local choir leader Natasha Willis. “We sing our own, special arrangements of feelgood chart and pop songs, and use as many performances as possible to raise money for charities and local causes.“ In 2012 alone we helped raise more than £1m.
“New members are always welcome and anyone interested can try a free taster session."
Rock Choir is the UK's largest and most popular contemporary choir, with more than 16,000 members in 250 local communities, including Salisbury, Christchurch, Ringwood and Romsey.
It was started in 2005, by award-winning singer and musician Caroline Redman Lusher, who set out to create a modern, contemporary choir for adults and teenagers.
The Salisbury Rock Choir meets every Thursday from 8pm to 9.30pm at Elim Church, Dews Road.
