Du Maurier's haunting tale resurrected for Studio
12:55pm Thursday 26th September 2013 in Entertainments
A PRODUCTION of Jamaica Inn adapted by a past president of Studio Theatre is to be performed there next week.
The version of Daphne du Maurier’s haunting novel was adapted by David Horlock, who was also the artistic director of Salisbury Playhouse from 1982 to 1990.
The work was thought to have been lost but the chief electrician at the Playhouse who had worked on the original was able to supply a copy when he heard Studio was searching for it.
Jamaica Inn is directed by Linda Hayman, whose production of The Turn of the Screw last year frightened audiences each night, and has a cast of seasoned veterans and newcomers.
The play runs from October 3 to 5, and then 8 to 12, at 7.30pm, with a matinee on October 5 at 2.30pm.
Tickets are available from Salisbury Information Centre in Fish Row on 01722 342860 or on the door.
