SALISBURY Cathedral Choir will perform a Christmas celebration of timeless festive music interspersed with familiar readings and poetry next week.

Directed by David Halls and accompanied by John Challenger, the choir will sing Christmas favourites including In The Bleak Midwinter by Darke, For Unto Us from Handel’s Messiah, and The Twelve Days Of Christmas by Rutter.

Readings include Christmas Bells by Longfellow, A Christmas Prayer (from the trenches) by Winterbotham, an excerpt from Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and Christmas by Betjeman.

There will also be the opportunity for the audience to join in singing the great festive congregational carols.

The concert will be held in the cathedral on Wednesday, December 11 at 7.30pm.
