THE Farrant Singers will be getting the festive season started with their Christmas concert at St Martin’s Church, Salisbury on Saturday.
The singers will perform alongside The Farrant Orchestra and soloists Eloise Irving and Alistair Watson.
The first half includes Vaughan Williams’ muchloved Fantasia on Christmas Carols, with musical references to many familiar carols, and Gerald Finzi’s Christmas cantata In Terra Pax.
These choral pieces will be separated by an orchestral interlude – Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op 6 No 1.
In the second half there’ll be a chance for the audience to join in with some favourite carols, as well as less well known pieces from the choir.
Salisbury-based chamber choir, The Farrant Singers, will be conducted by Andrew Mackay.
The concert begins at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 in advance or £13 on the door (£5 for under 16s/students), and are available from farrantsingers.org or by calling 07786 331364.
