THE New Sarum Singers ushered in the festive season on December 7 with a sparkling Spirit of Christmas concert at the Bemerton Methodist Church, Roman Road, Salisbury.
The choir performed under their musical director Ruth Booth and were accompanied on the piano by Gemma Coles.
They started with Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly before a rendition of John Rutter’s arrangement of Adolphe Adams’ O Holy Night and a new work dedicated to the New Sarum Singers by Salisbury composer Harry Brockway called Jesus is Christmas.
The full programme contained carols and songs new and old in the spirit of Christmas.
A collection raised more than £200 for Riding for the Disabled, Wilton Group.
Future performances by the New Sarum Singers at the same venue will be on April 13 at 3pm for an Easter concert and July 19 at 7.30pm for the annual summer concert.
