A NEW community arts project starts in Tidworth this month, with the aim of helping integrate military and civilian families in the area.
Run by Creative Ecology Wiltshire (CEW) in partnership with Salisbury Arts Centre, In Our Place is a series of multi-art form workshops for residents from both military and civilian backgrounds, focusing on ideas of community and belonging.
In Our Place was conceived with the Army Welfare Service, working with youth and community groups at Ordnance House and Tidworth Leisure Centre.
Video and music workshops will be run by Salisbury Arts Centre alongside dance and theatre sessions managed by CEW over the next few months, exploring residents’ feelings about community.
Their creative output will contribute to the creation of a performance piece.
Devised by professional playwright Richard Conlon and director Mark Bishop, this final piece will feature filmed segments devised and produced by young people during the creative workshop sessions. The piece will be performed in Tidworth and at Salisbury Arts Centre in July.
In Our Place is funded by MoD Armed Forces Community Covenant, in partnership with Wiltshire Council. For more information contact Simon Morris, at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 01722 321744, or Rachael McDonald, on 07926 056297.
