EMERGING writers are being invited to submit an example of their work to Salisbury Playhouse as the theatre looks to bring engaging work by up-andcoming authors to the stage.

The Playhouse is looking to re-ignite its commitment to the commissioning and production of original drama and is inviting submissions of new work from the south west region.

The theatre’s first commission of a new drama in nearly 10 years - Worst Wedding Ever (pictured), a comedy about a family wedding written by Dorset-based Chris Chibnall – is opening at the end of March.

Playhouse artistic director Gareth Machin said: “We know there is a wealth of writing talent living and working in the region and Chris Chibnall is a superb example of this.

“Over the coming months we want to engage with the very best emerging talent and to find ways of bringing their vision, ideas and stories to our audience.”

This current invitation for submissions will be open until the end of March 2014.
