SALISBURY Playhouse will be hosting an evening of drama, thought and discussion to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on Monday, January 27 at 7pm.
Organised by Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury Coalition Against Racism (SCAR), the theme for this year’s event is journeys.
It will incorporate poetry, video footage, a specially commissioned performance devised by BTEC acting students and music created by BTEC music students from Wiltshire College Salisbury.
Holocaust Memorial Day has taken place in the UK since 2001 and provides an opportunity for everyone to learn lessons from the Holocaust, Nazi persecution and subsequent genocides.
Events are organised across the country in order to challenge hatred and persecution in the UK today.
Rex Webb, chairman of SCAR, said: “Holocaust Memorial Day gives us the opportunity to stop and remember the heroic struggle of those who survived the Holocaust in World War Two.
The event in Salisbury this year will also allow us to look at how minority groups experience living in Wiltshire today with the screening of the See Me DVD.
“We invite people from all backgrounds to join us in this evening of remembrance, discussion and drama.”
