INTERNATIONAL superstar Barry Humphries, whose alter egos include inebriated cultural attaché the Honorable Sir Les Patterson, the grandfatherly Sandy Stone and Moonee Ponds' legendary housewife Dame Edna Everage, comes to The Mayflower as part of a Farewell World Tour.

During the all-singing, all-dancing spectacular, Dame Edna promises to "empower" audiences as she meditates on the big issues.

"You will see me at the height of my powers, taking you on a wonderful spiritual journey you'll never forget,” she said. “I'm not saying my show will heal you, but you'll certainly leave the theatre feeling considerably better for the experience."

While Barry Humphries' famous creations are not officially retiring, Australia's greatest Dame insists that Eat, Pray, Laugh! will be her final UK tour.

"So, Possums in Southampton, please do come and say goodbye to me. “It would be lovely to see your faces for the last time," she said.

This new show is directed by distinguished multi-award winning director Simon Phillips – director of the original Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

l Eat, Pray, Laugh! opened at the Mayflower in Southampton on Tuesday and runs until Saturday. Tickets at mayflower.org.uk or call 02380 711811.
