THERE’S plenty on offer at Salisbury Playhouse to keep children entertained over the forthcoming February halfterm.

On Tuesday, February 17, audiences can join fearless orphan Daniel Dorey in Grisly Tales from Tumble-water.

Can Daniel rescue the girl in the distant room, armed only with his wits and a satchel of spine-chilling stories? Based on the deliciously dark novel by Bruno Vincent, this is a high-energy adventure full of laughs, frights and live music for children aged eight and over.

Adapted from the classic Hans Christian Andersen story, The Snow Queen is a musical play set in a fairytale world of magical beings – a world where strange things can happen to anybody. Gerda must set out on a perilous journey through the seasons, to what seems like the very end of the world, in search of her friend Kay.

Suitable for those aged four and over, The Snow Queen is in the Salberg on Thursday, February 20.

In the stage adaptation of Anne Fine’s Care of Henry, Hugo must choose who to stay with while his mother is having a baby. There are a lot of things to consider, such as who will allow the best TV, the deepest baths, the best food.

And most importantly, there’s Hugo’s dog, Henry.

Care of Henry will be at the theatre on Friday, February 21, and is aimed at those aged four to eight. There will also be a relaxed performance at 2pm.

Relaxed performances are tailored and aimed at anyone who might find it difficult to sit quietly and still for an entire performance, or who is uncomfortable with sudden lighting changes or loud noises.

They are particularly suitable for those on the autistic spectrum and extra spaces have also been made for wheelchairs.

For those who fancy taking to the stage themselves, Play in a Day offers young people the chance to work with directors and technicians to make a special show. Five to seven year olds can explore Dinosaur Island on Monday, February 17 while eight- to ten-year-olds can take part in Pirate Adventure on Wednesday, February 19.
