THE performance in progress night, Practice, returns to Salisbury Arts Centre on Wednesday.

Practice is an opportunity for dance and theatre companies to develop their work and test new ideas in front of a live audience which is asked to give them feedback.

Four dance and theatre companies have been invited to showcase extracts of their work-in-progress on February 26: Wolf Close, Neil Callaghan & Simone Kenyon, The Mostly Everything People and Helen Kirby of Labyrinth Dance.

Wolf Close is a playful husband and wife company who devise friendly and innovative theatre performances, workshops and community projects.

They communicate with the audience through gesture and joyful dancing.

They will be performing extracts from Onto the Roof, an exploration of mortality through tree and human life cycles, with storytelling and shared moments of celebration.

The Mostly Everything People are a dance theatre company whose work combines movement, text and live music, with surreal and ridiculous elements.

They have presented work at festivals and venues all over the world.

Their new work Saying Nothing is a rhythmically complex and physical duet which explores the possibilities and limitations of communication.

Neil Callaghan & Simone Kenyon make work that moves between dance, theatre and visual art.

They have received international commissions, toured across the UK and performed at prestigious festivals.

A Fine Balance is a minimal performance that entices the viewer into the details of micro-movement Helen Kirby is an emerging artist with an interdisciplinary background, having studied and worked in the fields of dance, fine art and other performance work.

Based on real life experience, Hum Drum explores the institutional, repetitive way of life working in retail.

Hum Drum is an experiment into physical theatre integrating everyday objects as percussion, fusing tap and hip hop dance styles.

Practice begins at 7pm on Wednesday, February 26.

Tickets are £7 or £5 concessions, including a free drink.

They are available from salisburyartscentre.co.uk or the box office on 01722 321744.
