BRAHMS’ Double Concerto is on the programme for Salisbury Symphony Orchestra’s Spring concert.
Soloists will be Richard Studt (violin) and Lionel Handy (cello), both distinguished musicians with professional careers that have taken them to some of Europe’s finest concert halls.
Composed and first performed in 1887, the Double Concerto was Brahms’ last major orchestral work and has since earned its place as a much-loved work.
The rest of the varied programme consists of Weber’s Euryanthe Overture, and Symphony No 1 in E minor by Sibelius.
On this occasion the orchestra will be conducted by Colin Howard as resident conductor David Halls will be with the Cathedral choir in Saintes, Salisbury’s French twin town.
Rosamund Bromley will lead the orchestra. The concert takes place on Saturday, April 5 at 7.30pm at the City Hall, Salisbury.
The money raised will be donated to Tedworth House Recovery Centre.
Tickets from the City Hall box office on 01722 434434.
