FANS of Dirty Dancing can get their fix of Baby and Johnny in Southampton later this year.

The new tour of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage started in Bristol on Saturday and will return to Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre for a three-week run from June 10 to 28.

The show proved hugely popular when it first hit the UK, becoming the fastest selling show in West End theatre history.

It took a record-breaking advance of £15m, and t the first tour took an unprecedented £42m and smashed box office records in several cities. It is based on the phenomenally successful film and features all the muchloved characters and original dialogue, along with a few extra scenes.

Gareth Bailey stars as Johnny Castle, the role made famous by Patrick Swayze.

Roseanna Frascona takes the role of idealistic Baby Houseman and Claire Rogers plays Johnny’s dance partner Penny Johnson. The show is produced by Karl Sydow and Joye Entertainment, in association with Lionsgate and Magic Hour Productions.
