SALISBURY Arts Centre is hosting a sparkling gala night to launch its trio of summer operas on Saturday.

Don your suits and evening gowns and enjoy an evening of indulgence.

Puccini's beloved opera La Bohème will be screened live in HD from the world famous Metropolitan Opera House in New York at 5.55pm.

La Bohème is the most performed opera in the Met’s history, with over 1,200 in-house performances since 1900.

The work has been performed worldwide and frequently re-imagined, notably in the musical Rent and Baz Luhrmann’s iconic 2001 film Moulin Rouge.

This production features a dynamic cast of rising young stars led by Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo as the passionate Rodolfo, and marks a major Met debut for Romanian soprano Anita Hartig.

Franco Zeffirelli’s lavish production features a cast of hundreds, a detailed reconstruction of a Paris shopping district, a horse and a mule, real food, and an onstage snowfall.

Leading up to the screening, Arts Centre guests will be given the red carpet treatment with nibbles and little luxuries. Evening dress is encouraged.

All tickets will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a pamper hamper from Neil’s Yard Remedies.

The Arts Centre’s summer season also includes Mozart’s Così Fan Tutte on Saturday, April 26 and Rossini’s La Cenerentola on Saturday, May 10. The gala night takes place on Saturday, April 5, from 5.15pm.

Tickets are £16 or £14 concessions, available from salisburyartscentre.
