MISUNDERSTANDINGS and mistakes aplenty feature in Oliver Goldsmith’s 18th century comedy, coming to Salisbury’s Fisherton Mill later this month.

She Stoops to Conquer promises a heart-warming and hilarious evening of classic entertainment presented by Creative Cow theatre company.

She Stoops to Conquer is one of the few plays from the 18th century to have an enduring appeal and Creative Cow is touring with it this spring.

Charles Marlow, is beset with a stutter and a quiver when in the presence of elegant and educated young women and is left tongue-tied when his father sets him up with Miss Hardcastle.

Meanwhile mayhem and confusion abound as Tony Lumpkin persuades Marlow and his dashing friend Hastines that Mr Hardcastle’s country house is an inn and the man of the house the innkeeper.

Actor and founder member of Creative Cow Katherine Senior said: “She Stoops to Conquer is a fabulous piece of classical comedy.

“You see bits of the plot used again and again in today’s sit-coms, proving how brilliant and insightful Goldsmith’s writing was.

“We love presenting this kind of good, comic and classical work and delighting our audiences around the country. ”

She Stoops to Conquer can be seen at Fisherton Mill, Salisbury from April 22 to April 24.
