NEW writing talent will be showcased in an event at Salisbury Arts Centre on Sunday.

Ten up-and-coming playwrights will have the chance to stage a rehearsed reading of their plays with professional actors and directors in front of a live audience. They will also be offered individual mentoring to help them take their work to a more professional level in workshops run by Salisbury-based writer Angela Street as part of Theatre Fest West, organised by the arts centre and Salisbury Playhouse.

The writers taking part were asked to submit scripts inspired by news stories from January this year and the evening will cover themes including the internet, gender, identity, refugees, technology, self-harm, poverty, ageing and memory.

Tickets cost £5 from the box office salisburyartscentre.co.uk or 01722 321744.
