OLIVIER Award-winning songwriting partners George Stiles and Anthony Drewe are visiting Salisbury Playhouse for a special free event to accompany Betty Blue Eyes, which is currently running in the main house, on Saturday.

Songwriting With Stiles and Drewe, presented by Musical Theatre Network, will give fans of musical theatre a fun insight into writing musicals and the journey involved in getting a production from page to stage.

As well as Betty Blue Eyes, Stiles and Drewe’s musicals include Honk! which won an Olivier Award for Best Musical, and they wrote the new songs for the Disney and Cameron Mackintosh production of Mary Poppins.

Songwriting With Stiles and Drewe starts at 6pm.

Tickets are free and can be booked via on 01722 320333. The event can also be combined with seeing Betty Blue Eyes at the 2.15pm or 7.30pm performance.

The Playhouse is offering a captioned performance of Betty Blue Eyes on Wednesday, May 7 at 7.30pm.

Words will appear on a screen above the stage at the same time as they are spoken or sung.

Theatre captioning also includes additional information such as the name of the person speaking, sound effects and offstage noises.

Captioned performances offer anyone who may have difficulty hearing or understanding the audible elements of a production a more enjoyable experience.
