AUDIENCES at the Whiteparish Festival at the weekend will be able to enjoy the sound of one of the area’s leading vocal ensembles.

Sarum Six will be giving a recital at All Saints parish church on Sunday.

It was last year, in the inaugural Whiteparish Music Festival, that Sarum Six made their full concert debut.

They will return with a new programme – From Debussy to Disney – which will once again demonstrate their versatility in a range of styles.

There will be sacred music from one of the ‘greats’ of the Renaissance, Orlandus Lassus, as well as chansons by Debussy.

English contrast comes from five madrigals and five settings of folk songs. There will also be some close harmony numbers.

Since last year, Timothy Wilson has emigrated to warmer Mediterranean climes, and his counter-tenor spot is taken by Jamal Sutton, who is assistant director of chapel music at Winchester College.

Otherwise, the ensemble retains its Salisbury emphasis, with Stephen Abbott, Ian Wicks, Richard Hooper, Philip Lawson and James Ottaway.
