JOHN Gordon Sinclair and James Lance have been announced for lead roles Jeeves and Wooster in comedy play Perfect Nonsense which comes to the Mayflower later this year.

Winning best new comedy at the 2014 Olivier Awards, the charmingly incompetent Bertie Wooster and his unflappable valet Jeeves are brought to life in the highly acclaimed comedy, written by brothers Robert and David Goodale.

Sinclair is an Olivier award-winning Scottish actor best known for playing Gregory in Bill Forsyth’s 1981 film Gregory’s Girl.

He also won an Olivier Award for best actor in She Loves Me in 1995 and he most recently played Professor Marcus in the West End run of The Ladykillers.

Lance is well-known for his roles in comedy series including Teachers, The Book Group, Smack the Pony and I’m Alan Partridge.

He has also appeared on screen in films such as Marie Antoinette and Bel Ami, and his stage credits include Celebrity Autobiography and Ingredient X.

Co-writer Robert Goodale, whose career began as an actor, will play Seppings.

His stage credits include Dr Faustus, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Timon of Athens, The Rivals, Comedy of Errors, and Romeo and Juliet.

He has also appeared on screen in Foyle’s War, Holby City and Midsommer Murders.

Perfect Nonsense will be in the West End before its UK tour.

It will arrive at the Mayflower in Southampton from November 18 to 22.
