AN annual art exhibition had its best year yet, raising £600 for charity.

The fourth Avon & Bourne Valley Art Exhibition was held at Figheldean Village Hall and attracted lots of visitors from Salisbury, Andover, Basingstoke, Warminster and surrounding villages.

There were 141 original exhibits, and Best in Show, voted for by the public, went to Amesbury artist Kathy Gevaux with her mixed media painting On the Verge.

Organiser Trevor Woodbridge said: “I was delighted with all aspects of our offering – the results and the quality on show seem to improve each year and this was reflected in encouraging comments from the visitors.

“A total of 17 originals were sold, ranging in price from £40 to £500, and innumerable prints and cards were eagerly purchased.”

An original painting by Richard Horner was raffled and, combined with donations in lieu of an entrance fee, raised £600 for Hope for Tomorrow, which supplies mobile chemotherapy units.
