DOWNTON’S Moot will be taking people back to the summer of 1914 with an Edwardian tea party on Saturday.
The village is commemorating the centenary of the First World War with music and songs from the period.
Director Jane Seden is staging the afternoon as a promenade performance from sunken lawn to amphitheatre, which will be repeated twice through the day.
There will be jazz classics from Suite Jazz, songs from the Edwardian era from Downton Community Choir, Edwardian games from the children of Downton Academy of Dramatic Art (DADA) and Downton Drama Company will sing songs from Oh What A Lovely War.
The event starts at 2.15pm with the official opening of the new balustrade and refurbished gate entrance to The Moot and the first performance starts at 2.30pm. People are advised to bring their own seating and English teas will be on sale.
Tickets are available on the door at £3 for adults, £2 for children and concessions or £10 for a family ticket (two adults and three children).
