A MUSIC student will get the opportunity of a lifetime next month when he shadows an American singer/songwriter.

Luke Barham, who is currently taking his GCSEs at The Stonehenge School in Amesbury, will fly out to New York on July 29 to shadow Meredith O’Connor for ten days.

O’Connor was discovered by a modelling scout in 2011 and her musical talent gained recognition in February last year when she released an EP of original songs. Her YouTube hit single Celebrity has had more than two million hits.

Luke, who is in Year 11 and lives in Shrewton, emailed O’Connor’s manager Rick Galvin asking for advice about the music industry. Mr Galvin interviewed Luke on Skype and then invited him to go to New York once his exams are finished.

Luke said: “I’m so excited. It’s crazy that it’s happening but I’m looking forward to it.”
