WOW Salisbury’s kids can dance!
That was the impression of the packed audience at Salisbury’s Dance Exchange on Saturday as proud parents, relatives and dance teachers watched hundreds of young dancers show off their moves.
This is the third time this successful collaboration between south Wiltshire’s dance schools has been run at the Playhouse.
Schools including Salisbury Dance Studios, Colton Dance Academy, Vanessa Chilvers Dance Studio, Elevate Street Dance and St Edmund’s each gave a selection of their students the chance to perform on the Playhouse’s main stage.
From tiny tots in tutus to experienced dancers with impressive skills the Dance Exchange included a variety of ensemble routines and solos.
There were some slick tap routines, creative modern dances, beautiful ballet numbers and funky street dances.
Everything was well rehearsed and polished with the impressive array of colourful costumes further highlighting the commitment and professionalism of our local dance schools.
It was lovely to see several boys strutting their stuff on the stage and they seemed to be having just as much fun as the girls.
And as the whole cast squeezed onto the stage for the encore it was clear how many young people in Salisbury just love to dance – and they are very good at it too.
