YOUNG people are wanted to join a special panel at Salisbury Playhouse.

Volunteers aged 14-21 can learn more about the theatre and to share their views as Young Ambassadors of the Playhouse.

The group of ten will meet monthly to work on a range of projects and to discuss how the Playhouse’s work links to young people within the community.

The Young Ambassadors will meet members of staff and other professionals working within the theatre industry, attend VIP nights and will manage a blog series detailing activities and events.

They will have the chance to review productions and will be advocates for the theatre, sharing information and opportunities with young people in the local area.

Artistic director Gareth Machin said: “The Young Ambassadors scheme is one of a variety of ways in which we work with members of the community.

“It is a fantastic way for young people to learn more about the theatre, to share their views with us, and would reflect well on college, university and job applications. I am very much looking forward to working with the panel over the coming year”.

Meetings will take place on the last Thursday of each month during term time.

For more information on how to apply to be part of the scheme contact Dave Orme, youth theatre director, on 01722 345167 or youth2@salisburyplayhouse.com.

The closing date for applications is September 1.
