THE early days of jazz have come to life in a colourful collection of lively, contemporary art at Waterstones bookstore in Salisbury.

Inspired by a life-long love of the music, Oh, paint that thing! by local artist Ray Brotherton, is a nostalgic celebration of this exuberant era.

Brotherton started his career in art relatively late in life.

After serving in the army, followed by a couple of spells working locally and in south east Asia, he studied for a Diploma in Fine Arts at Salisbury College.

He is a member of the Sarum Artists art group and has exhibited with them in many venues in the Salisbury area.

Oh, paint that thing! can be seen at Waterstones on Salisbury’s High Street until Sunday, September 7.
