SALISBURY Arts Centre is running a new film project for young people in Old Sarum.

The project will teach young people professional film skills including scriptwriting, acting and production techniques as they work together to create a film from scratch.

A ‘making of’ short film will also be produced alongside the main film.

The project aims to explore some of the perceived issues affecting young people and provide them with a voice to articulate their thoughts about living in the area, making a positive contribution to the community.

Last year the Arts Centre ran a similar, highly successful project in Bemerton Heath, with more than 60 young people contributing to the production of The Heath: A Salisbury Odyssey.

The Arts Centre is returning to an ‘Odyssey’ theme for this new project, exploring journeys, obstacles and adventures.

Primarily street-based, the project will also utilise the Old Sarum Community Rooms and partner up with the Youth Development Service.

The Arts Centre will provide professional equipment and mentoring.

The group meet on Wednesday evenings around the Old Sarum area, and will finish producing the film in September. Top of Form Bottom of Form The finished film will be shown on the big screen at the Arts Centre on Wednesday, December 10 and at the Old Sarum Community Rooms.
