SALISBURY Arts Centre is telling classic stories this weekend with a puppet play of the Pied Piper and a beautiful French animation of a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.

Returning to the city on Saturday, September 13, the Norwich Puppet Theatre’s one man show combines puppetry, upbeat music and storytelling for their adaption of the Pied Piper, for children aged 3 – 7 years.

“There is something magical about seeing live puppetry which always puts a smile on our face. We would like the audience to come away feeling entertained and inspired,” said the company’s spokesman.

To prepare for show the Salisbury Arts Centre and the Pied Piper have left a trail of mice across Salisbury.

There are 18 of the furry rodents hiding in shop windows.

The arts centre team will also putting together some Pied Piper inspired craft activities in the arts space from 12-2pm on Saturday.

The show takes places on Saturday at 11am and 2pm.

On Sunday at 11am is the film adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The King and the Mockingbird (U).

When a tyrannical King falls in love with a shepherdess in a painting, she decides to run away with her chimney sweep lover. As their paintings come alive at night the lovers flee, accompanied by a spirited mockingbird, and begin a wild chase through an enchanted city.
