FRESH from five star reviews and a Total Theatre Award for their previous show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Salisbury Arts Centre resident artists Two Destination Language will preview their new performance about ‘everyday maleness’ tomorrow.
Manpower looks at gender roles, bodies and the expectations placed on both sexes through “an affectionate exploration of the men they've known, met and wanted to be”, staged by just two performers.
Performer Alister Lownie said: “I'm a man, and I'm interested in how little masculinity is celebrated. Feminism has made great strides in not just fighting to achieve equality, but in empowering women to be themselves. Men haven't explored what it is to be a man so much.”
Two Destination Language have been working on Manpower for the past year and this will be only the second time it has been performed in front of a live audience.
