OMID Djalili brings his new engaging, insightful show Iranalamadingdong to City Hall on Saturday, December 6 at 8pm.

The new show will see Omid discuss themes of overcoming fears, relationships, the perils of celebrity and getting older.

Omid said: “A lot of men in their 40s try to do things to prove themselves. For me it was a choice of going on tour, learning to ride a unicycle or understanding Judaism.”

British-born of Iranian parents, the comic and actor’s legendary performances on stage and screen have won him plaudits the world over. Credits include Fagin in the West-End smash-hit Oliver!, Dr Rance in Joe Orton’s What The Butler Saw and Mahmud Nasir in The Infidel, Sex and the City 2, Mr Nice and Moonfleet with Ray Winstone on Sky 1.

A firm favourite at the Edinburgh Festival with his legendary performances, last year Omid starred in a new stage play of The Shawshank Redemption. He played the character of Red, who was played by Morgan Freeman in the 1994 film version, to critical acclaim. The Times described his role as a “solid nuanced performance, creating a full-hearted character to stand alongside any”.

Omid’s stand-up awards include: Time Out Award for Best Stand Up, an EMMA Award and he was a South Bank Award and a Perrier Award nominee.

The Sunday Times critic wrote: “To carve yourself out a career as the thinking person’s Iranian comedian in this political climate takes a fine brain and a masterful way with the audience. There is no question that Omid Djalili possesses both.”
