VISITORS can get into the festive spirit at the grand Palladian house at Stourhead, which has re-opened its doors for the Christmas season.

Each room of the house has been transformed to capture the spirit of Christmases past and present, ranging from the Victorian right through to modern celebrations.

Visitors can discover how the last private owners of Stourhead celebrated Christmas together and see first-hand how the house may have been decorated in the past.

The Christmas House will be open every day until Sunday, December 21.

Opening hours are from 11am to 3pm, with last entry to the house at 2.30pm.

For the first three weekends this month Father Christmas will be stopping by to meet visitors in the basement of the house.

There will be dressing up, storybooks for families to read, as well as a festive film and craft activities.

Timed tickets for Santa will be subject to availability each Saturday and Sunday and cost £5 per child, 11am to 3pm – last entrance is at 2.30pm.

Stourhead’s popular Christmas Voices will again be taking place this weekend and weekends of December, 13-14 and 20-21, between 11am to 2pm.

Local choirs will be providing free musical entertainment and encouraging all to join in with their seasonal songs.
