SALISBURY singers and musicians have recorded a cracking new song for Christmas to help ensure a brighter future for cancer sufferers.

Christmas Time Once More by the RockBorn Music Academy has been released to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The band of nine musicians, who are from Salisbury and the surrounding area, comprises Colin Mitchener, Pete Legg, Ted Draper, Joe Thorne, Becky Sims, Brian Moody, Dave Mace, Geoff Sims, and Terry Goulding.

Colin, who lives in Downton, came up with the music and lyrics for the song, which was recorded at Sound Investment Recording Studio, Rockbourne, and released by Buzzard Records UK, run by Pete Legg.

Colin said: “We all use the recording studio at Rockbourne and I just started talking about Christmas and said we should have done a Christmas song. Pete said ‘We have just about got time’. We discussed it between us and whether we put it out for a charity and everyone was keen to do it.”

He added: “It is a wonderful feeling to be able to support Cancer Research UK. It is a great cause.

“Most people have been affected in some way by somebody having cancer.”

This is the first time the 67-year-old has written a Christmas song for charity.

“It is a jolly, fun Christmas song,” he said.

The band is now urging the local community to get behind the CD and help it to reach its £5,000 fundraising target.

Studio manager Pete said: “It is Salisbury’s version of BandAid. We are a bunch of music-loving people who are putting out a good Christmas song to raise money for a worthwhile charity to help people and help the fight to get rid of cancer. Just go out and buy it.”

The song is now available to buy or download by visiting anotherecho.co.uk or buzzardrecords.co.uk. It costs £1.99 for the CD and 99p for download. The CD is available at the Co-operative in Downton, and Salisbury Cancer Research UK Shop.
