AN imaginative twist on JM Barrie’s Peter Pen was brought to life by the talented students of Wellington Academy.

Audiences were thrown back to the decade famed for big hair, shoulder pads and legendary pop icons – the 80s – as part of the academy’s Christmas pantomime production, Peter’s Pants.

Peter Pan (Jordan White) and his trusted sidekick the mischievous fairy Tinkerbell (Chloe Warren) search for Peter’s shadow, who has stolen his favourite pants, meeting the Darling siblings and Aunt Dotty along the way. They soon find themselves on Never Again Island for even more adventurous antics. In the world of the New Romantics we come face to face with Peter Pan’s Wild Boys and his arch-nemesis Hook (James Carpenter), modelled on Adam Ant, and his crew of scurvy pirates.

Soon these two tribes go to war when Princess Primani and the Voguettes are captured by Hook.

Wendy, John and Michael’s Aunt Dotty steals the show with her hilarious antics in Never Again Land. The larger than life character had audiences in stitches. There were some brilliant dance performances to Duran Duran’s The Wild Boys, Madonna’s Vogue and Adam and the Ants’ Prince Charming, which well and truly brought the 80s back to Tidworth with a bang, along with the loud and brightly coloured 80s inspired costumes and fab scenery.

In true pantomime fashion the audience were given the chance to get involved – oh yes they were – in a Blind Date inspired sketch, which got a ‘lorra lorra laughs’ from the audience. Students put their own stamp on this classic tale for a fun, 80s fuelled adventure for all ages.
