MASTER musician Phil Beer will launch the 2015 live music schedule of the Sixpenny Sessions next month.

The multi-instrumentalist, one half of the award-winning acoustic duo Show of Hands, will be performing on February 6 at the village hall in Common Road, Sixpenny Handley, from 8pm.

Sixpenny Sessions was set up by a group of individuals seeking to hold regular live music events in the village hall for and on behalf of the community.

It started after the inaugural Waistcoat Festival was held last year to commemorate the ‘great fire’ in the village in 1892.

Penny Mansergh from Sixpenny Sessions said: “With a professional career of over 36 years Phil has a vast amount of material to draw on and his solo gigs are quite simply a treat of past and current favourites from one of the most popular musicians on the acoustic circuit.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Phil Beer to Sixpenny Handley to kick start our regular events and well and truly put us on the village hall live music map.”

Tickets cost £14 and are available from Styles Newsagents in High Street, Sixpenny Handley or at eventbrite.co.uk (plus a £1.49 online booking fee).

All profits go towards Sixpenny Handley with Pentridge Community Fund.

Any musicians or bands interested in performing at future Sixpenny Sessions can email sixpennysessions@gmail.com or contact the group via its Facebook page.
