STUDIO Theatre promises laughs, witty one-liners, several soups and probably the greatest gathering of female talent ever assembled on its stage for its next production.

Is It On The Trolley? An Evening With(out) Victoria Wood plunders the sketchbook of Britain’s favourite comedienne to deliver an evening of classic comedy featuring old bats, daft waitresses, gormless girlfriends, shifty shop assistants, ladies who lunch and outraged matrons.

The show runs from January 29 to 31 at the amdram company's theatre in Ashley Road.

The cast of 20 includes Sue Bale, Sandra Desfontaines, Sarah Kirkpatrick and Jackie Pilkington plus token blokes Keith Edmund, George Goulding and Colin Hayman. They will be whipping in and out of costume and character at top speed to deliver an evening of guaranteed merriment, designed to raise funds for Studio’s plans to add rehearsal space and new dressing rooms to its premises.

Studio spokesperson Rachel Fletcher said: “As well as raising money, this also gives us a chance to show off the wealth of female talent at Studio.

“So many plays have lots of parts for men and few for women, so the girls don’t always get their fair share of the limelight. But Victoria Wood writes brilliantly for women and this gives us all some marvellous characters to play.

“Anyone looking for a great night out to beat the post Christmas blues is in for a treat.”

Tickets at £10, concessions £8, are available from Salisbury Tourist Information Centre in Fish Row, by telephone on 01722 342860 or on the door.

Performances start at 7.30pm.
