BUDDING young actors will be treading the boards in a poignant play about power and teenage protests on Tuesday.

The BTEC acting students will perform Remote by Stef Smith at Salisbury Playhouse.

Remote focuses on a group of young people whose lives intertwine when one of their friends decides to escape the pressures of daily life and hide somewhere she thinks she won’t be found.

The performing students are working towards a BTEC Acting qualification at Salisbury Playhouse and Wiltshire College.

Remote will form part of the National Theatre’s Connections Festival in April but three free public preview performances are taking place at the Playhouse’s rehearsal room on February 10, at 7pm, and February 12, at 3pm and 7pm.

“It’s a really interesting play about a girl who basically makes a mountain out of a molehill and tries to escape the apathy around her by stamping on her phone, running away and climbing a tree,” said 17-year-old Devon Strand, who plays the lead role of Antler.

“But in doing that she’s becoming more apathetic herself and she needs to see the world from a new perspective.”

The free tickets are available by calling the Playhouse on 01722 320333 or visiting salis buryplayhouse.com

The play will also be performed in The Salberg at Salisbury Playhouse as part of the Connections Festival in April.
