What piece of equipment could you not live without?

No brainer. It has to be my camera. My life is spent composing images and living without my camera would just be impossible. I have already chosen the camera that I want to be holding when I go to that big darkroom in the sky. Good opportunity to get some great shots!

Whose work inspires you?

One of the first photographers I became interested in was Bill Brandt, I loved the abstract nature of his work. I admire Henri Cartier Bresson and the landscapes of Ansel Adams. The black and white photos of Walker Evans are simple and superb.

Which three artists would you have round for dinner?

Salvador Dali must be first on the list, I love his approach to life and the fun in his work. Number two would be David Bailey. His work reflected the 60s and 70s and I am sure it would be fascinating to discuss those times through his images. Number three is Grayson Perry for both his work and his colourful approach to life.

What music are you listening to?

I have a very wide-ranging taste in music. My favourite band is the Eagles and I had the pleasure of seeing them last year at the O2. I love the blues and jazz, at the moment I am well into Diana Krall. Add in Jackson Browne and James Taylor, Eric Clapton the list is never ending!

What advice would I give to new artists?

Learn your art, understand your art but above all follow your own intuitions and creative paths. You will instinctively know what your scene is, be self critical but have self belief and confidence in your work.
