SARUM Morris dancers will be kicking off their 2015 performance season with Salisbury’s St George’s Day celebrations before continuing with the Downton Cuckoo Fair, the Magna Carta anniversary celebrations and other village fetes and folk festivals.

This year will also see them dance in Guernsey for Liberation Day, and with their exchange side from Sweden, Eken Morris, following a 2013 collaboration during the 30th anniversary dance tour of Helsinki and Tallinn. The group will also be extending their global connections when they are joined at Avebury in July by a Morris side from Washington, USA.

In addition to providing entertainment they will also be continuing to collect money for local charities after raising a total of £4,500 in the last five years.

Sarum Morris dancers meet every Thursday from 8pm at Salisbury Rugby Club and are always looking for more members.

Males and females of any age are welcome, and as well a friendly atmosphere and social opportunities, participants can expect to learn a unique ancient English tradition, benefit from great exercise, discounted festival tickets, and opportunities to tour in the UK and overseas.
