SALISBURY singers are hoping to make a real difference to children with life-threatening or terminal illnesses by releasing a charity song.

Salisbury Community Choir (SCC), the Will Todd Trio and children from schools and choirs in the city came together to record Inside My Heart: A Song for Rowan to boost funds for The Rainbow Trust.

The CD release was inspired by eight-year-old Rowan Todd, who has been fighting a brain tumour for five years.

She is the daughter of Will Todd, who has worked with SCC before.

Inside My Heart is an extract from Will’s The City Garden, a work commissioned by Salisbury Community Choir and performed to a packed audience in Salisbury Cathedral back in 2013 and Lincoln Cathedral in 2014.

The chairman of SCC Jane Capper said: “All profits from the sales of the Inside My Heart CD will go to support the work of the Rainbow Trust and to maximise this Salisbury Community Choir paid for all the recording costs. “It is the SCC’s way of saying thank you to Will and his family for all the wonders he has shared with the choir.”

Rowan and her family have received support from The Rainbow Trust, which cares for families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness.

Her father Will said: “Our day-to-day life has been wonderfully supported by the Rainbow Trust, which has offered valuable practical support, taking Rowan and her mum to the many hospital appointments, leaving me free to work and look after our other children.

“They really have been a god-send.”

Under the musical directorship of Jeremy Backhouse and with the support of Will Todd, and the Will Todd trio, Inside My Heart was recorded by a group of more than 300 adults and local children.

The CD costs £5, and includes a charity donation of £3.50.

It is available from The Card Collection, High Street, or online at salisburycommunitychoir.org.
