TWO local Salisbury Fringe writers will stage their plays about adoption at the Salberg on April, 4.

Veronica Dewan and Linda Morse will present their 50-minute plays as part of the Salisbury Playhouse’s Theatre Fest West season.

‘She is not Herself’, by Veronica Dewan, tells the story of a birth mother who meets with the mixed race daughter she gave up for adoption.

Linda Morse explores the different perspectives of a birth mother, adoptive mother and their shared daughter in experimental play ‘A Shared Breath”.

‘She is not Herself’ was performed by Kali Theatre at The Tristan Bates Theatre in London in February and was directed by Helena Bell and performed by Amina Zia and Maggie O’Brien, who will also all perform at The Salberg.

‘A Shared Breath’ will be led by Salisbury Fringe actors Samantha Holland and Roxy Dunn and director Pete Talman along with cast members Tori Deffee and Mark Honan.

Veronica Dewan has previously won a Mind Millenium Award for ‘Birthwrites’ and has had scenes from her play ‘Papa India’ had staged readings at The Salberg and Salisbury Arts Centre.

Linda Morse was involved in setting up the first ‘Salisbury Fringe Festival of New Writing’ and has had a number of short pieces performed.

Both writers were part of the ‘Out of Joint Writers Academy’ and have benefitted from mentoring and script development support.

Salisbury Fringe Artistic Director Andrew Thackeray is managing the events and financial support will come from Salisbury chartered accountant firm Hugh Davies & Co.

The two writers recommend that anyone affected by the issues raised in the plays visits the local ‘Adopters’ Support Group’ at Hale Hall, opposite Salisbury Arts Centre on the first Tuesday of the month. For more information, contact Sara on 07788 727234.
