RETURNING to regional tour following a ten night sell-out at London's O2 Arena, Monty Python’s Spamalot will be coming the Mayflower on April 7.

Starring Joe Pasquale in the much loved role of King Arthur the play is loosely based the hit-film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Pasquale has been described as “loveable quality” by critics and the cast have to adjust to his ad-libs lines during the performance.

Sarah Earnshaw, who plays The Lady of The Lake, described the performance as a "gentle comedy" and something that appeal to both fans of the TV show and those people who are too young to have watched the original sketch.

She said: "My character is not in the Holy Grail but I think that the writers needed a strong female character which is why they included The Lady of The Lake."

Earnshaw is reprising a role that she played back in 2013 and said that she was never a big fan of the original show having grown after much of its popularity but since taking the role she has grown to love it.

"Eric Idle is my favourite Python," she added. "He was quite involved in the original tour and still comes to some of the shows.

"I also think that John Cleese is brilliant, he is such a physical actor."

The show runs from Tuesday until Saturday, April 11. For more information and tickets visit mayflower.org.uk.
