WINTERSLOW Drama Group will be combining a three course dinner with theatre for two nights this weekend.

Dinner Theatre will feature food, a themed quiz and a one act comedy written by resident Winterslow playwright Pam Valentine.

You can't fight City Hall, Bren puts a comedic twist on the tale of Alan Wakefield mother whose house is to be compulsorily purchased to make way for a new motorway.

Mrs Wakefield has been dreading the arrival of the letter confirming details of when she must leave her home of forty years.

When a letter bearing news of the final decision arrives she refuses to open it until her son, Alan is with her. It is not easy for him to persuade his family to have Sunday lunch with his mother, but he manages.

The events that follow are highly amusing as Alan’s wife and mother move from bickering with each other to turning against Alan.

Set in the 1970's when motorways were being built throughout the country, the play exposes the normal tensions of family life and how we all struggle to cope with the differing demands of spouses in laws and children.

Taking place tomorrow and Saturday the evening starts at 7.45pm with a three course dinner accompanied by a themed quiz, with the play to follow.

Tickets are available at £10 each from Central Stores or online at winterslowdrama.co.uk.
