A HILARIOUS and heart-warming re-imagining of the classic novel Don Quixote is coming to The Salberg at Salisbury Playhouse from tonight until Saturday, with a Saturday matinee at 2.45pm.

Don Q follows the story of Norman Quixote, who has lost himself in a world of books and stories in his twilight years.

Largely ignored by the rest of the world, he retreats to a place full of dashing knights and damsels in distress.

With his sense of reality fading and threatened with “incarceration in a home for the aged”, Norman embarks on a quest to fulfil his destiny – taking his loyal friend Sam along for the ride.

Battling muggers, hoodies and even sheep, Norman and Sam become Don Q and Sancho, who ineptly right wrongs and become incapable rescuers of the worthy.

Quite by chance, they put the world to rights, and help those they least expect to.

Presented by Flintlock Theatre Company, this production is a fast and furious romp full of fights, dances and Gypsy jazz music. Drawing inspiration from the 17th century Golden Age Spanish novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, Don Q is a modern-day look at unlikely heroes and triumph in the face of adversity.

Performances of Don Q will take place in The Salberg at Salisbury Playhouse from Thursday, May 7 to Saturday, May 9 at 7.45pm.

There will also be a Saturday matinee at 2.45pm.

Age guidance: 10+ years.

Tickets for Don Q are available from the Salisbury Playhouse ticket office on 01722 320333 or at salisburyplayhouse.com.
