DID you know that William Longespée, third Earl of Salisbury, was the half brother of King John – who put his seal on the Magna Carta 800 years ago this year?

Did you know he was the first person to be buried in Salisbury Cathedral?

Did you know there is a mystery concerning his death?

If you want to find out more, come along to the Alderbury Players' spring production – A Medieval Mystery Play – Thursday (April 14), Friday and Saturday night at 7.30pm in Alderbury Village Hall.

Written by local author Jill Redston, this one act play tells the story of William and his wife Ela, and delves into the mystery concerning his death.

The play will be followed by a light medieval supper, after which you will have an opportunity to talk to the cast, and decide for yourself how William died.

Tickets at £10 include a light medieval supper, are available from Alderbury Village Shop, or by telephoning 01722 710123.

Guests are invited to come suitably dressed – but this is optional.
