THE 2015 Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival will be packed with entertaining events from street theatre to literature and film for the whole family.

The May Bank Holiday weekend sees Salisbury transformed again with the popular free event, City Encounters.

Head over to Chorister’s Green in the Cathedral Close for the Play Day on Bank Holiday Monday, for an afternoon of art and sporting activities for children and young people.

On the Sunday morning, relax on the comfy cushions in the Salisbury Arts Centre as Lyngo Theatre guides you through four seasons, celebrating the wonders of nature in Egg and Spoon.

On Bank Holiday Monday there will be two performances in the Salberg Studio at Salisbury Playhouse from the acclaimed Horse + Bamboo Theatre of its show Red Riding Hood (Ages 4+). Tuesday, May 26, is the festival’s day of children’s literature events in the Salberg Studio. Beginning with author Jim Smith and his latest Barry Loser story – The Case of the Crumpled Carton (Ages 7+) – perfect for fans of The Wimpy Kid, Mr Gum and Tom Gates.

The other must-see literature event that day comes from Adam and Charlotte Guillain, performing their latest picture book Pizza for Pirates (ages 5 plus), from their George’s Amazing Adventures series.

The following day (Wednesday, May 27) the Salberg Studio will be taken over by puppetry masters Little Angel Theatre, who will be giving two performances of The Journey Home (ages three to seven).

The M6 Theatre Company bring One Little Word on Friday, May 29 (ages 3 plus) in the Salberg Studio.

The following two days (May 30 and 31) Mimika Theatre bring Small Worlds (ages five to 10) to the Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum.

Step inside Mimika’s white tent and experience this spellbinding show of five interweaving yet very different stories.

Also on Saturday, May 30, Illyria will return to Salisbury at the Wardrobe Museum Gardens in the Cathedral Close for a water-soaked magic extravaganza performance of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (ages 5+) featuring magical illusions created by Paul Daniels.

Finally, on both Friday, June 5, and Saturday June 6, families can meet the greatest storyteller of them all, Scheherazade, as Story Pocket Theatre presents an exciting new adaptation of the Arabian Nights (ages 5+) at the Salberg Studio.
