FIVE actors take on more than 100 characters in the "hilarious" adaptation of John Buchan's The 39 Steps, which runs at Studio Theatre in Ashley Road, Salisbury, from June 8 to June 13.
The comedy thriller, which won a clutch of awards on both sides of the Atlantic and is still running in the West End, also plunders iconic moments from Alfred Hitchcock's classic screen version from 1935.
Director Lesley Bates said: "It's a tall order involving the Flying Scotsman, the Forth Bridge, a chase across The Highlands, a beautiful blonde and a set of handcuffs, but we're having great fun working out how to do it all in our tiny theatre."
Dashing hero, Richard Hannay, tackles foreign femme fatales, plucky heroines, underwear salesmen, German spy masters, Scottish crofters, a herd of sheep and much more besides.
Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets are £10, concessions £8 and are available form Salisbury Information Centre, Fish Row (Tel 01722 342860) or at the door.
