THE 14th annual Farley Music Festival will take place next month with three pianists, young opera stars and local musicians.

The festival, from June 9 to 14 is taking place at All Saints’ Church, Farley, famous for its acoustics.

It will include three piano recitals as well as a concert featuring beloved opera arias performed by Opera Lyrica and performances from The Wiltshire Quartet and The Farley Chorale.

A highlight in Wiltshire’s classical music calendar, it has featured performances from leading musicians, including Benjamin Grosvenor, Philip Lawson and Andrew Wickens in recent years.

This year’s programme opens with On Wenlock Edge on June 9, including Ralph Vaughan Williams’ setting of six songs from A E Houseman’s A Shropshire Lad.

On June 10, Salisbury-based pianist Nicholas Walker will perform pieces by Mozart and Liszt.

The festival will continue with solo piano concerts from two young scholars of the Royal Academy of Music - Alexandra Vaduva on June 11, a Romanian rising star who started playing at the age of four and has gone on to win numerous national and international awards, and Anahit Chaushyan on June 12, a talented Armenian pianist who has performed in many of the greatest venues of the world.

The final night of the festival, on June 13, will feature a programme of opera arias performed by a cast from Opera Lyrica.

A Festival Evensong will then be held at the church to close the festival on Sunday, June 14.
