SHAKESPEARE'S Romeo and Juliet is coming to Salisbury Playhouse.
Romeo and Juliet is a timeless tale of love, passion, violence and rivalry and is brought to the stage by theatre company Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory.
The company returns to the Playhouse after the success of their production of As You Like It last year.
This critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet is directed by Polina Kalinina and includes a young cast of 14 actors.
“I wanted to approach it as a new play to give it a different energy that is influenced by the 1960’s student riots,” said Polina. “It’s great to have such a dynamic young cast that brings so much new passion to this well-known play.”
Paapa Essiedu plays the role of Romeo and added: “As a young actor you dream of playing the part of Romeo and it’s incredible that after all those years of reading his speeches I’m having the chance to play the role.”
Daisy Whalley plays Juliet, with Oliver Hoare as Mercutio and Sally Oliver as the Nurse.
The production will feature fight scenes, exciting choreography and a revolving set.
Romeo and Juliet runs until Saturday (June 27) at 7.30pm. There are matinees on Thursday and Saturday at 2.15pm.
